Hello Lydia, I came across this interesting thing in my decision making course and wanted to share it with you, because it's relevant to writers and relates to the quote you shared above.
"I want to make sure to communicate... do not criticize or edit yourself. While writing, it's important to focus on what you want to say, not how to say it. Worrying too much about spelling and punctuation or whether a sentence sounds right can make you so self-conscious that you can't express yourself. Probably the most common cause of writer's block is this deadly habit of criticizing your work as you write.
If you're writing only for yourself and never intend for others to see it, who cares if your writing's not perfect? And if you do intend to share it with others, there will be time later to worry about the details. Remember this: Writing and editing actually use different parts of the brain. The writing part will open you up and free you to explore your life, but the editing part will shut you down by judging what you say." - quote by Donna Brown
Wow, I really love that quote, thank you so much for sharing it with me! I'll certainly keep that in mind. Oftentimes I worry too much about critiquing my work - which is draining - instead of just writing what the Lord puts on my heart. Thank you again!
Good point!
